new old fashion way

This year my mom and I decided our theme would be Old fashion children's Christmas. She has collected many vintage ornaments throughout the years and we've  also been given by both of my grandmas, retro lights and ornaments. This year my grandma gave my mom 2 strings of lights that she has had since the late 70's. These are the authentic old fashion light bulbs, the kind that my mom used to have on her trees as she was growing up. Now we happily have them on ours. My mom, as she does every year, put up some of the ornaments that my brothers and I made in elementary school. Yes yes the lovely macaroni and pipe cleaner ornaments. We've got them all. We also have ornaments up that used to be on her tree when she was a child, we have all the baby's first Christmas ornaments, and special ones given to us by family members. The ornaments are all pieces of our holiday history. We absolutely love and appreciate this tree for all that it represents and for its simplistic beauty.

DECK THE HALLS

The festive sounds of holiday music rang in our ears, as we walked around our tree searching for the perfect spot for each ornament. Some took center stage up front while others were nestled into the branches near the trunk. The authentic old fashion light bulbs that strung across from branch to branch, illuminated the tree. We sat to savor the Christmas cookies. We sat and drank every last drop of hot chocolate. We sat and enjoyed the sweet sights of the holiday season.

HOW I SPENT MY SUNDAY

The holiday season its the holiday season!

This Saturday we went to a tree lighting event. There was live music, a children's Christmas choir, food, fireworks, shopping, and a ton of people. It took us almost an hour to find parking but it was so worth it. It was a lovely evening and a great way to kick start all the holiday festivities to come.

STARBUCKS Peppermint White Chocolate Latte

This is drink number 3 for project 10 cups. I get so excited for starbucks holiday drinks. but who doesn't? right?! ah I feel like its such a treat to drink one of these. I love the warmth of the cup and how it feels in my hand and the sweet taste that lingers once you take a sip. ah prefection! Little things like this make me very very happy.

FELIZ NAVIDAD

My mom, cousin and I took a day trip to San Antonio Texas. We went specifically to go to Lush. After we bought our lush stuff we decided to walk the mall, we shopped at a Christmas store, checked out what forever 21 had to offer and then got some Starbucks. After all that we worked up quit an appetite and seeing that we were in San Antonio we had to eat some mexican food. We drove over to Mi Tierra Mexican Restaurant and filled our bellies. The restaurant was stunning, everything was so vibrant and christmas decorations were all around. Live mariachis walked around the tables and sang and played their guitars as people sat and enjoyed their food. The ambiance was great, the service was fast, and the food was delicious. After lunch we bought some of the mexican sweet bread sold in the bakery. It didn't disappoint. If anyone is ever in San Antonio this is place is definitelyy worth checking out.

LUSH-IOUS HOLIDAY HAUL

ohhh how I love lush! I can't stop obsessing. Once again I made my way down to my closest lush. Which unfortunately is an hour away but GOOD NEWS! a lush store is opening in my city in January!..YES YES YES!!! I'm anxiously waiting for that but in the mean time I had to go get my hands on some of the holiday items. Last year I went a bit crazy and bought much more then I could actually use. I still have a whole drawer and three jars filled with last years holiday goodies. So when I went this time I knew exactly what I was going to get and the only thing I repurchased from my last years picks is snow fairy of course. Everything else I've never used before so I'm very happy I have them. I'll be doing a seperate review on the skincare products. But heres what I got!

Snow fairy shower gel
Iced Wine shower jelly
Coalface Cleanser
Tea tree water toner
Angels Delight-Isn't this the prettiest soap you've ever seen?!
Snowcake Soap-I'm using this now and I'm in love.

A Tartan Tale

Mac Holiday Collection 2010: A Tartan Tale

Initially I did not care for the Tartan print. To be quite honest I hated it and did not plan on buying anything. Until I actually dropped by the MAC counter and saw it in person. It was love at first site. Well, that's a large bit of an exaggeration but I really did start to like it. I looked at the collection, went home, got online, and did some research. Of course I went straight to Temptalia. (click to go to the website) So I spent an almost embarrassing amount of time reading up on everything. I wrote down my favorites and a couple of days later I was at MAC. I decided on these two items. I felt these were my must haves items. and I'm happy to say I chose wisely. As many of you know it is so easy to get overwhelmed at these large collections. Well here they are. :)

Vain and Glorious Lip bag: I spent quit a while deciding between the two lips bags. I finally decided on this one, mostly because of baby sparks dazzleglass. I've read and heard a lot about this color, and for some reason I never bought it. Also the lipstick that comes in this set seemed to be a better choice for everyday use. The other lipstick in the other set was a bit to dark and although it is a gorgeous color, I already have a good amount of darker colors. Mellow Mood Lipstick is a color I would get the most use out of. So I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Radiant Jewels Dazzleglass Creme: I absolutely love Radiant Jewels Dazzleglass Creme. It is a gorgeous color, and very pigmented. I naturally have pretty pigmented lips so a lot of the time I have trouble with colors showing up properly. This one is an exception. It lasting power gets an A in my book. The name suites it so well. I adore this and recommend it to anyone. But hurry run out and get this before it runs out. I got lucky and bought the last one at my counter.

I miiiiight go back for a couple more items. But if I decide to be good and don't go back for more. I'm happy to say I adore the things I bought. Write to you soon! xoxo

Hocus Pocus

This is one of my favorite Halloween Movies. It reminds me so much of when I was in elementary and in middle school. It brings back a lot of memories of me and my brothers watching it on Halloween night. We would all sit on the living room floor, with our candy spread all over, swaping and stuffing our faces with treats. Oh the memories.

Mozzarella

Ingredients: One baguette, Small tomatoes, Olive Oil, Fresh Mozzarella, and Italian Seasoning
Directions: Slice the tomatoes, Baguette, and Mozzarella. Then Place the small pieces of bread on a baking dish, Coat each one with olive oil, then place the tomato slice on top, then the mozzarella slice, coat the mozzarella with some more olive oil and top it off with a sprinkle of Italian Seasoning. Bake in the oven until the cheese melts and the bread is toasted. Enjoy!

**for those in my family who didn't want tomatoes, we used a three cheese marinara sauce in place of the tomatoes. They ended up tasting like Pizza Bites. Very quick and easy!

Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte

Oops its half way gone! I almost forgot to take a picture of this for the blog. This is drink number 2 in my Project 10 cups (yes this is what I've decided to officially call it) this whole 10 drinks before the new year. I love when starbucks brings back their seasonal drinks. This one is wonderful! absolutley perfect for cool fall days or nights. I have about 2 more months to try 8 different Starbucks drinks that I've never tried before. Hmmm we'll see if I'll actually be able to do this.

HALLOWEEN HALLOWEEN HALLOWEEN

9 DAYS AWAY!

As you can see we are in the halloween mood! We have quite a bit of things to get done before Halloween night. We still need to pick out our pumpkins which we are going to do this weekend. We'll be going to a pumpkin patch this year, which I'm pretty excited about. I'm sure there will be a post about that in the next few days. Also my mom and I are in the process of planning our Halloween party menu. We are bringing back some party favorites and we also want to incorporate a few new recipes. I'm on the look out for Food Networks Halloween Special, so I hope to see it airing soon. And we still need to make our final costume decisions. I'm in such a festive mood, I just love this time of year!!

A Few Fall Essentials

Deep red/Burgundy lips are perfect for fall and winter.
I picked up the new Mac Pro longwear Lipcreme in Made to Last. Its very pigmented and lasts for hours. Its also quit staining which I like. The next shade I want to purchase is Sweet ever after. These retail for $16.00

I love love love Bath & Body Works Candles. I was so excited to drive over and smell all the fall scents. I literally was there for an hour smelling all of them over and over again. I finally decided on Cranberry Woods and my mom choose Autumn. They are amazing! Cranberry woods is the sweeter scent out of the two and Autumn smells just like apples and has a subtle spice scent. Its the perfect combination!

I love to burn my candles at night while I'm catching up on all my favorite blogs.

Lanvin for H&M

This is SO sad to hear! But only because we don't have an H&M store in my state. I wish H&M would open up their online store for the U.S. I've only been to the store once and that was in Chicago on Michigan Avenue this summer. I love love love everything I bought. I've cried everyday since.....knowing I won't walk in the store anytime soon. But for everyone else HAPPY SHOPPING on the day it hits stores.

OPI Burlesque Collection-Holiday 2010

If I would have seen these nail polishes a few months back, I probably wouldn't have given them a second look. But recently I've started getting into glitter and shimmery nails. So when I first saw this collection OPI is releasing for the holidays, I immediately fell in love with all of the colors. I want them ALL!!!!
